Executive summary r.jpg (752 bytes)
He has been involved in various national and international research programmes of diverse fields. Recently, he has been studying the influence of non-indigeneous species on the stability and structure of benthic invertebrate assemblages and various functional interrelationships between different components of the coastal ecosystems e.g. competition between native amphipods with alien polychaetes, coupling between mussels and phytoplankton and changes in the patterns of herbivory due to the increased rate of eutrophication. He is a member of Baltic Marine Biologists (BMB) Working Group of Non-Indigenous Estuarine and Marine Organisms, HELCOM Macrozoobenthos Working Group, Estonian Society of Malacology.
