How to reach

By plane

Palanga (Klaipeda) International Airport is situated 25 km away from Klaipeda City on the main A13 (E272) highway.

Regular scheduled flights from Palanga International Airport are operated by airlines AirBaltic, Norwegian Air Shuttle and SAS to Copenhagen (Denmark), Oslo (Norway) and Riga (Latvia).

Getting to Klaipeda town. Buses for Klaipeda leave from the small stand outside the main entrance, and all of them go via Palanga. The journey time is about 50 minutes. Tickets cost about 8 Lt and can be bought from the driver. The bus terminates at the main bus station of Klaipeda (see more info in Arrival by bus).

Taxi are usually parked outside the terminal building whenever flights arrive. The journey to Klaipeda costs anything from 100 Lt upwards.

International Palanga Airport

Kaunas International Airport is located about 230 km fromKlaipėda and almost in the middle of the highway Vilnius-Klaipėda. The main Ryanair regular flights destinations are as follows: Brussels, Gothenburg, Oslo, Paris, London, Liverpool, Dublin and Frankfurt.

Getting to Klaipeda town. Bus service Kaunas Airport Express runs from Klaipeda to Kaunas Airport and from Kaunas Airport to Klaipeda. The bus stop at Kaunas Airport is just in front of the passenger terminal. Bus schedule is coordinated with Ryanair flight schedule and serves every flight.

In Klaipeda the bus picks up and leaves the passengers at shopping center Akropolis (see Klaipeda city bus network).

Vilnius International Airport is situated only 7 km from Vilnius city (about 310 km from Klaipeda). At the end of 2011, 17 airlines operated regular flights from Vilnius Airport. Regular flights are available on 23 routes to 26 airports.

Getting to Klaipeda town. Bus service Vilnius Airport Express runs from Klaipeda to Vilnius Airport and from Vilnius Airport to Klaipeda. The bus picks up passengers at the marked Ollex bus stop. In Klaipeda the bus picks up and leaves the passengers at shopping center Akropolis (see Klaipeda city bus network).

By ferry

The International Ferry Terminal is about 12km south of the Klaipeda city center.

Regular ferry lines for passengers, cars and cargo:
Klaipėda – Kiel (Germany),
Klaipėda – Sassnitz (Germany),
Klaipėda – Karlshamn (Sweden).

Getting to Klaipeda town. The International Ferry Terminal is about 12 km south of the Klaipeda city center. Bus Nº1a leaves from outside the main terminal building a few times a day. Buy a ticket from the driver for 2.40 Lt and validate it in the appropriate machine. Journey time to the centre is about 25 minutes. All buses terminate at the last stop on Taikos before Old Town (see Klaipeda city bus network). Taxi are usually waiting around outside. A journey to Old Town costs 35-60Lt.

By bus

Long-distance buses arrive to Klaipeda from Tallinn, Riga, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Warsawand most major Lithuanian towns and cities.

 Getting to town. It is easy to reach the city center by taking a public bus number 8, 8a or 1. Timetable available on the website.

Taxi can be found around the station perimeter. A ride to Old Town by taxi should cost around 10 Lt.

The bus station is a good 20-minute walk from Old Town.

By car

Klaipeda is at the end of the 311 km highway from Vilnius and is also connected to Riga via the A13 (E272).

The nearest border crossing: Lithuanian-Russian border at Nida-Morskoe checkpoint.

Transport in town

The main means of public transportation in town are buses and minibuses. Their routes enable passengers to travel from one side of the city to the other within 40 minutes. A bus fare costs 2.00 litas in kiosks and 2.40 litas when buying a ticket from bus driver, with student card – 1.20 Lt.The public buses function according to the schedule, which is to be found at nearly every bus stop along with the route of specific buses.
