Investigations of Lithuanian deep-water dumping site carried out by CORPI
On 29th of June 2012 scientific staff from Klaipeda university Coastal research and planning institute conducted the scientific investigations of deep-water dumping site in Lithuanian territorial waters of the Baltic Sea. The scope of investigations included bathymetry surveying, hydrologic measurements, sampling of bottom sediments and water of the dumping area and surroundings.
Comprehensive analysis of collected data will help to identify areas of dredged spoil accumulation, evaluate physical and chemical characteristics of the seabed and water column, which will be important for the preparation of recommendations for proper monitoring and management of dumping sites in next project stages.
