References (not structured): Jin, X., Wang, R., Wei, T., Tang, D., Xu, T. 2015. Complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Tridentiger bifasciatus and Tridentiger barbatus (Perciformes, Gobiidae): a mitogenomic perspective on the phylogenetic relationships of Gobiidae. Molecular biology reports, 42, pp. 253-265. Comments: Shokihaze goby Tridentiger barbatus are small-sized fish and generally live on the bottom of brackish waters, belonging to the subfamily Gobionellinae in the Gobiidae of Perciformes. |
Sociability / Life stage (?) | Unknown Comments: Not available. |
Reproductive frequency (?) | Iteroparous |
Reproductive type (?) | Sexual Comments: Male fish select large empty hinged oyster shells (Crassostrea ariakensis) as nests for the females to lay their eggs. The males then clean and guard the eggs and nest. Females can lay between 2,610 to 23,365 eggs. The eggs are ellipsoid and attached to the shells. Eggs take about 4 days to hatch at 25 C. The planktonic larvae are about 3 mm long. |
Developmental trait (?) | Brooding |
Characteristic feeding method / Life stage (?) |
Comments: Reported foods of this fish are annelids, crustaceans, and small fishes. |
Mobility / Life stage (?) |

Habitat modifying ability potential (?) | Unknown Comments: Not available. |
Toxicity / Life stage (?) | Not relevant |
Bioaccumulation association (?) | Unknown Comments: Not available. |
Known human health impact? | Known Comments: Hamless. |
Known economic impact? | Known References: Jin, X., Wang, R., Wei, T., Tang, D., Xu, T. 2015. Comments: Although few of gobies are important as food for humans, they are beneficial as preyed species for commercially important fishes and play a key role in material cycle and energy flow in ecosystem. |
Known measurable environmental impact? | Not known Comments: Not available. |
