Recipient region (?) | Country: Sweden LME: 23. Baltic Sea References: Florin, A. B., Mo, K., Svensson, F., Schagerström, E., Kautsky, L., & Bergström, L. (2013). First records of Conrad’s false mussel, Mytilopsis leucophaeata (Conrad, 1831) in the southern Bothnian Sea, Sweden, near a nuclear power plant. Comments: Mytilopsis leucophaeata was first recorded in Sweden during spring 2011 in the cooling water outlet tunnel of reactor located in Forsmark nuclear power plant, southern Bothnian Sea |

First records of Conrad’s false mussel, Mytilopsis leucophaeata (Conrad, 1831) in the southern Bothnian Sea, Sweden, near a nuclear power plant. |
Pathway / Vector (?) | Level of certainty: Possible Pathway: Vessels References: Florin, A. B., Mo, K., Svensson, F., Schagerström, E., Kautsky, L., & Bergström, L. (2013). First records of Conrad’s false mussel, Mytilopsis leucophaeata (Conrad, 1831) in the southern Bothnian Sea, Sweden, near a nuclear power plant. |

Salinity range (?) | Exact range: 0 - 5 References: Florin, A. B., Mo, K., Svensson, F., Schagerström, E., Kautsky, L., & Bergström, L. (2013). First records of Conrad’s false mussel, Mytilopsis leucophaeata (Conrad, 1831) in the southern Bothnian Sea, Sweden, near a nuclear power plant. Comments: The power plant uses about 130 m3/s of brackish water (salinity just below 5) in the cooling water system, taken from the shallow bay of Asphällafjärden. |

Temperature range (?) | Min: 5 Max: 30 References: Florin, A. B., Mo, K., Svensson, F., Schagerström, E., Kautsky, L., & Bergström, L. (2013). First records of Conrad’s false mussel, Mytilopsis leucophaeata (Conrad, 1831) in the southern Bothnian Sea, Sweden, near a nuclear power plant. Comments: species typically found in water temperatures between 5 and 30°C, with a lower limit for reproduction of 13°C, and a lethal upper temperature limit of 40°C |
Zonation / Substratum (?) | Benthic: Littoral (Benthic) References: Florin, A. B., Mo, K., Svensson, F., Schagerström, E., Kautsky, L., & Bergström, L. (2013). Population status (?) | Established (Low level of certainty) References (not structured): ICES WGITMO 2014 Comments: The findings of Conrad's false mussel, Mytilopsis leucophaeata, found in 2011 in the cooling water outlet tunnel of reactor 1 at Forsmark nuclear power plant, southern Bothnian Sea, are now published (Florin et al. 2013). At the following monitoring in the artificially heated area outside the power plant they saw a rapid increase of the mussel density but the distribution is still limited to the area with heated cooling wa-ter from the power plant. |
