Zolotarev P.N., Juveniles of the red king crab in the funnel of the White Sea, Vopr. Rybolov., 2010, vol. 11, no. 1, pp. 60–64 Comments: P. camtschaticus is not mentioned in the review on biological invasions in the White Sea (Berger, Naumov, 2002). The species could appear in Voronka the most distant part of the White Sea, which is substantially closer to the Barents Sea than the White Sea by its oceanographic features in early 2000s. In Voronka of the White Sea, ovigerous females inhabit beds formed by scallop (Chlamys islandica), where adult males are hardly found (Zolotarev, 2010, cited by Starikov et al. 2015. Reliable findings of P. camtschaticus in the White Sea to the south of Voronka were unknown. In summer 2013, in the area of the Kartesh White Sea Biological Station of the Zoological Institute, an individual of Kamchatka crab was caught (Starikov et al., 2015). |
