Species status (?) | Non-indigenous species References (not structured): Carlton JT (2009) Deep Invasion Ecology and the Assembly of Communities in Historical Time, pp. 13-56. in: G. Rilov and J. Crooks, editors, Marine Bioinvasions: Ecology, Conservation and Management Perspectives. Ecological Studies Series. Springer. Ingle RW (1980) British Crabs. British Museum of Natural History London 222pp. Ingle R (1997) Crayfishes, lobsters and crabs of Europe. Springer. Guinot D, Macpherson E (1987) Revision de genre Pilumnoides Lucas, 1844, avec description de quatre especes nouvelles et creation de Pilumnoidinae subfam. nov. (Crustacea Decapoda Brachyura) Bull. Mus. natn. Hist. Nat., Paris 4 Series, 9A(1): 211-247. Comments: Native to South America. However, Carlton (2009) suggests that the species may be confused for P. perlatus from the same region. In which case the species will still have been an introduction but not occurring in Ireland. P. perlatus and P. inglei key out closely to each other. The key describing P. inglei as a new species may have chosen features that may represent individual differences. |
